## How SomaSkul accounts work today

If your child is using SomaSkul, it's helpful to understand exactly how the app works right now, so you know what to expect:

SomaSkul does not currently have a separate "parent account." When your child (or you, on their behalf) sets up SomaSkul, it creates one account — a name and a phone number. Whoever's phone number is used becomes the account. There is no built-in way, today, for you to have a separate login that supervises or controls your child's account from the outside.

If your child pays for SomaSkul Premium, the payment goes through the phone number on the account — via M-Pesa, using either your child's phone (if they have their own) or a phone you've set up the account with (for example, if you created the account using your own number so payments come from you). Whichever phone number is on the account is the one SomaSkul will bill.

There is no age check when creating an account. SomaSkul does not currently ask for a date of birth or verify that the person signing up is old enough to do so independently. This is something we know needs attention, and it is one of the things this document exists to be upfront about rather than gloss over.

## What this means for you, practically, right now

**If you want oversight of your child's SomaSkul use, the most reliable way today is to

set up the account yourself**, using your own phone number, and share the device or account with your child — the same way you might for any app that doesn't yet have a dedicated "family" mode.

If you want to see what your child has been asking SomaSkul's AI tutor (ZANA), be

aware that full conversation history is stored only on the device your child used — it is not something SomaSkul can retrieve for you remotely, and it is not visible to SomaSkul either. You would need to look at the conversation on the device itself.

**If you want SomaSkul to stop processing your child's information, or to delete an

account**, contact us using the details in §5 below — we do not yet have a self-service "delete" button in the app, so this currently requires reaching out to us directly. See DATA_SUBJECT_REQUESTS.md.

## What SomaSkul does with your child's information

For the full picture, see PRIVACY_POLICY.md. In short:

SomaSkul collects a name, a phone number, and study preferences (curriculum, class,

subjects) to set up the account.

Homework photos are sent to our AI provider to generate a response, and are not

stored by SomaSkul afterward.

SomaSkul's AI tutor (ZANA) processes what your child types in order to answer, and

SomaSkul's system prompts to that AI include your child's first name and class level.

Full chat history stays on the device, not on SomaSkul's servers.
Payment is only ever confirmed by Safaricom directly — SomaSkul never accepts a

claimed payment from the app itself.

## What's coming — and what is not built yet

SomaSkul is actively designing a proper parent-controlled account system — one where a parent creates an account, adds up to a few children under it, can lock or unlock a child's access, and pays for the whole family from one place. As of this document's last update, that system exists only as an early technical design and has no working screens or features yet. We are including this note so that if you've heard SomaSkul is building "family accounts," you understand it isn't something you can use today. When it ships, this document will be rewritten to describe it accurately.
